Privacy Policy

You do not need an account to use CouponsExpert, and we do not ask for your name, your address, or your card details at any point. We never see your payment information, because you pay the store, not us.

What we do collect is the ordinary technical record of a visit, plus whatever you choose to hand over if you use a form or sign up for emails. We do not sell it. If you want it deleted, write to us and we will delete it.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those three paragraphs.

Who we are

CouponsExpert is operated by Auraa Prime Private Limited. For questions about this policy or about your data, contact support@couponsexpert.com.

Under UK and EU data protection law we are the data controller for the information described below.

What you give us yourself

You only provide these if you choose to. Nothing on the site requires them.

What

Why we have it

How long we keep it

Email address

To send the newsletter or deal alerts, if you asked for them

Until you unsubscribe, then 30 days

Contact form message

To answer you

24 months, then deleted

Code votes (worked / did not work)

To decide which codes need re-testing

Indefinitely, stored without identifying you

Comment or review text

To publish it where you asked us to

Until you ask us to remove it

If you unsubscribe from our emails we keep your address on a suppression list so our system knows not to email you again. That is the only reason it stays, and you can ask for it to be erased completely instead.

What we collect automatically

Like almost every website, our servers and our analytics record some things about your visit whether you fill anything in or not.

โ—       Your IP address, shortened before it is stored so the last part is removed.

โ—       Browser and operating system, screen size, and whether you are on a phone or a desktop.

โ—       Which pages you looked at, in what order, and how long you stayed.

โ—       The page or search that sent you to us.

โ—       Rough location, at city or region level, worked out from your IP address. Not a street address and not GPS.

We use this to see which store pages are worth maintaining, to catch broken pages, and to spot bot traffic. We are not trying to identify you individually and we have no interest in doing so.

Cookies and similar technology

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Here is what is running on CouponsExpert and who sets each one.

You can refuse everything except the strictly necessary cookies. If you are visiting from the UK or EU you will be asked before any non essential cookie is set. If you are in California you can use the Do Not Sell or Share link in our footer. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though blocking affiliate cookies may mean a store does not recognise a code we sent you to.

Affiliate tracking, specifically

This deserves its own section because it is the part people do not expect.

When you click a store link on CouponsExpert, you pass briefly through the affiliate network's own domain before landing on the store. During that redirect the network sets its own cookie in your browser. That cookie is how the store knows the sale came from us, and it is what makes the site free to use.

The networks involved are Awin, Impact, Rakuten Advertising, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, Pepperjam, Commission Factory, and Partnerize. We do not control their cookies and we cannot delete them for you. Each network publishes its own privacy policy, and the links are listed at the bottom of this page.

What we receive back from a network is a sale record: that a purchase happened, roughly when, its value, and the commission due. We are not told your name, your email, your address, or what you bought.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information and we do not trade email lists. Information reaches other companies only in these situations.

โ—       Our hosting, email, and analytics providers, who process data on our instructions and are contractually barred from using it for anything else.

โ—       Affiliate networks, as described above, and only the click and conversion data they need to pay us.

โ—       Law enforcement or a court, if we are legally required to hand something over.

โ—       A buyer, if the business is ever sold. You would be told before any of your data moved.

Where your data is held

Our servers are in the United Stated, and some of our providers are based in the United States. If you are in the UK or the EU, that means your information may be transferred outside your country. Those transfers depend on the provider. We can tell you which applies to a specific provider if you ask.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to us using it, or ask us to restrict how we use it. You can also withdraw consent for emails at any time. We will respond within one month.

We rely on your consent for marketing emails and non essential cookies, and on legitimate interests for site security and aggregate analytics. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your national data protection authority.

If you are in California

You can request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, ask us to delete it, ask us to correct it, and opt out of any sharing of it for cross context behavioural advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. In the twelve months before the date at the top of this page we collected the categories described in the two tables above.

If you are in Canada

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information we hold, ask for it to be corrected, and withdraw consent. If we cannot resolve a complaint you can take it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To use any of these rights, email support@couponsexpert.com with the word Privacy in the subject line. We may ask you one or two questions to confirm the request is genuinely yours, which is a protection for you rather than an obstacle.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Most browsers can send a Do Not Track signal, but there is no agreed standard for what a site should do with it, so we do not act on it. We do respect the Global Privacy Control signal, which some browsers and extensions send. If your browser sends it, we treat it as an opt out of sharing for advertising purposes.

Children

CouponsExpert is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their details, email us and we will remove the record.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS, access to our systems is limited to the people who need it, and contact form submissions are stored on servers we control rather than in a shared inbox. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can say is that we hold very little worth stealing, because we never collect payment details and we do not require accounts.

If a breach ever affected your data, we would tell you and the relevant regulator within the legally required window.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and move the date at the top. For a change that materially affects your rights, we will say so clearly at the top of the page for at least 30 days rather than quietly editing a sentence.
